Axes you can read: x is where a season's on-ball profile sits between the average defender (left) and the average forward (right); y is how much it resembles the average midfielder. Both are cosine similarities to position-group centroids over the full 2016–2026 embedding — hand-written and deterministic, not a learned projection. Goalkeepers are drawn dim: they project, but cannot warp the axes. Each point represents one player-season. Distance describes these two projected profile measures, not overall ability or the cause of a change.
